Removals in Paisley

Tenement town. The skill that makes our Glasgow work good is the same skill here.

Paisley has some of the best Victorian tenement stock in the west of Scotland, and moving out of one is the same craft as moving out of a Glasgow close — the turn on the half-landing, the door that comes off, the sofa that goes through on its end.

We cover Paisley, Renfrew, Johnstone, Elderslie, Linwood, Bishopton and across Renfrewshire, from our base in Motherwell about twenty minutes away on the M8.

Moving in Paisley

What is different here

The things that actually change how long a move takes, and therefore what it costs.

Closes, and what they cost in time

A second or third-floor Paisley tenement is a full crew job, not a two-man one. The constraint is almost never the front door — it is the winding turn where the stair folds back on itself, and how much of your furniture has to be dismantled to get round it.

A town centre with real restrictions

Around the Abbey, the university and the older streets, loading space is limited and one-way systems are unforgiving. We check the street before the day rather than discovering it with a full van.

Student moves, in cycles

The University of the West of Scotland puts a September and June rhythm on this town. Those weeks book out first, and a small move at short notice in Freshers’ week is genuinely difficult to place — earlier is cheaper here more than most places.

Airport-side suburbs

Ralston, Hunterhill, Bishopton and the newer building out towards the airport are a different job again — driveways, wider streets, and volume rather than access as the thing that sets the price.

Flats

Upper-floor and tenement moves

More than half our Paisley work starts above the ground floor. Here is what that actually involves.

The stair is surveyed, not guessed

We ask for the floor, the stair type and whether there is a lift, because a third-floor walk-up is a different quote from a third floor with a lift big enough to be useful.

Dismantling included where it is needed

Beds, wardrobes and anything built in the room come apart and go back together. That is part of the job, not an extra discovered on the day.

Protection on the way out

Communal stairs and closes get floor protection and corner guards. You share that stair with neighbours and you may still need a factor’s goodwill after you have gone.

Packing that survives the close

How well things are boxed decides how well they survive being carried down three flights. We pack by volume, or supply materials if you would rather do it yourself.

Small and student moves

A single room or a few large items is a man-and-van job, and we will tell you when that is the cheaper answer rather than selling you a crew.

What customers say

From customers we have moved

  • I used TransScot in both January and Feb this year. Both times, the service and respect for both me and my precious possessions were incredible. The efficiency and professional standards of a huge company, with the thoughtfulness and consideration of a small business - I would highly recommend them to everyone. I was in quite a vulnerable position, on my own, and timing was imperative - the reassurance and respect I was shown (and kindness to my 87-year-old mum) was amazing. They just make you have faith in humanity again.

  • George and his team did a fabulous job today in moving a sofa and chair from one location to another and they were total life savers in the end. What seemed like a straightforward move turned into a nightmare when the chair wouldnt fit through the front or back door. George worked tirelessley to find a solution even to the extent of taking the back door off (and one inside door too) getting the chair to where it was meant to go and the putting both doors back into place. I so appreciate the effort that they put in, their dedication and not to mention their reasonable price for what turned out to be a mad job. I highly recommend George and his team. Thank you :)

Questions

Asked most often about Paisley moves

Can you get furniture out of a top-floor Paisley tenement?

Yes — it is one of the most common jobs we do, in Paisley and across Glasgow. Tell us the floor and the stair type when you enquire so the right crew and the right amount of time are allocated.

Do you cover the rest of Renfrewshire?

Yes — Renfrew, Johnstone, Elderslie, Linwood, Bishopton, Houston and the surrounding villages, as well as East Renfrewshire towards Barrhead and Newton Mearns.

How far in advance should I book a student move?

For September and June, as early as you can. Those weeks fill first and short-notice small moves are the hardest to place.

Is a Paisley move cheaper than a Glasgow one?

Not automatically. Price follows volume and access rather than postcode, and a third-floor Paisley flat can be a longer day than a Glasgow ground-floor house.

Do you do office moves in Paisley?

Yes — offices and business premises, usually outside working hours so the business loses as little time as possible.
