Cumbernauld was designed around one idea: keep people and traffic apart. It gives the town its underpasses and its footpath networks — and it gives removals here a question no other Lanarkshire town asks as often: where does the van actually go? In much of Kildrum, Seafar, Carbrain and Abronhill, the front door faces a footpath and the vehicle access is a service road or garage court behind. Split-level and hillside housing
The town is built on a hill, and plenty of its housing steps down the slope — front door on one level, living room half a flight below, garden two below that. The Village is a different town
Cumbernauld Village predates the new town by a few centuries and moves like an old village: narrow streets, on-street parking, stone cottages with low door heads. We bring a smaller vehicle and shuttle if needed, rather than forcing a large van somewhere it does not fit.
Craigmarloch and the newer estates
The newer developments at Craigmarloch and around the town edges are conventional modern estates — driveways, wide doors, level access. These are usually the most predictable moves in the town, decided by volume rather than access.
The M80 makes this a corridor town
Cumbernauld sits on the motorway between Glasgow and Stirling, and a big share of the moves we do here have one end somewhere along that corridor. Twenty minutes to the Glasgow flats, twenty-five to Stirling, and Falkirk over the hill — a two-ended move is normal rather than special.
