Airdrie grew up around its town centre rather than being planned, and the housing reflects it: Victorian and inter-war terraces near the middle, tenement flats, post-war estates further out, and newer developments on the edges. Each of those moves differently.
We work across Airdrie and the towns around it — Coatbridge, Caldercruix, Plains, Chapelhall and Calderbank — from a base in Motherwell, about fifteen minutes down the road.

What is different here
The things that actually change how long a move takes, and therefore what it costs.
Town-centre terraces and stone housing
Older terraced streets close to the centre often have no off-street parking and a narrow frontage. The van usually has to stop on the street, which is fine, but it makes the carry distance and the time of day matter more than they would on an estate.
Tenement and upper-floor flats
Airdrie has a fair amount of traditional flatted housing. The questions are the same as in Glasgow — which floor, is there a turn on the stair, does the wardrobe come apart — and the answers change the time more than the mileage does.
Post-war and modern estates
Out from the centre the picture flips: driveways, level access and doors that furniture fits through. These are usually the quickest moves we do in the town.
Newer developments
The recent estates around the edges of the town have the opposite problem to the old ones — the houses are easy but the roads are narrow, kerbs are high, and a large vehicle has to be positioned carefully rather than simply parked.
Long, thin gardens and rear access
A lot of older Airdrie property has a long back garden with a shed, a greenhouse or a garage at the far end. If any of that is coming with you, say so at survey — the carry distance is easy to underestimate and it adds up.
Storage
When the dates do not meet
Chains slip, and a completion date moving by a fortnight is common. Rather than accepting a date that does not work, the contents can go into storage in between.
Collected as part of the move
The same crew, the same day. Furniture is wrapped and protected before it goes into storage rather than afterwards.
Days or months
Short gaps between a sale and a purchase, or longer stretches during a renovation.
Redelivered when you are ready
Dates change again more often than people expect. Tell us as early as you can and the redelivery is rescheduled.

My street has no off-street parking. Is that a problem?
Not usually, but it is worth mentioning. It changes where the van can stop and how far things have to be carried, and both are priced in at survey rather than added afterwards.
Can you move a shed or a greenhouse?
A dismantled shed, yes. Greenhouses are rarely worth moving — the glass makes it slow and risky, and they seldom survive. We will give you an honest view at survey.
Do you do short-notice moves?
Often, in Lanarkshire. The vehicles are based fifteen minutes away, so there is more room to fit a local job in than there would be at the other end of the country. Phone rather than emailing if the date is tight.
