Removals and clearance in Blantyre

The one town where clearance is as much of the work as removals — and the search data says so.

Blantyre sits between Hamilton and Cambuslang in South Lanarkshire, close enough to Glasgow that a lot of moves cross the boundary. It is also, unusually, a town where people search for clearance almost as often as for removals — so this page covers both properly rather than treating clearance as an afterthought.

We are based in Motherwell, about ten minutes away, and cover Blantyre, High Blantyre, Hamilton, Bothwell, Uddingston and the surrounding area.

Moving in Blantyre

What is different here

The things that actually change how long a move takes, and therefore what it costs.

Mixed housing, mixed moves

Blantyre has former mining terraces, post-war estates, tenement flats and newer developments in close proximity. Two moves on adjacent streets can be very different jobs, which is exactly why the price comes after a survey rather than before one.

Close to Glasgow, in both directions

A large share of moves here go into or out of Glasgow. Being ten minutes from the collection end usually means an earlier start and a longer useful day.

Parking and street access

Generally easier than the city — most streets take a van without a permit. The older terraces are the exception, where frontages are narrow and the nearest legal stop may be some way from the door.

Upper-floor flats

The usual questions apply: which floor, whether there is a lift, and whether the stair has a turn that furniture will not go round. Worth answering before the day rather than on it.

Clearance

House and office clearance in Blantyre

Clearing a property is usually attached to something else — a sale, an estate, a tenancy ending or a move. Most of the work is deciding what goes where rather than shifting volume.

Full and part house clearance

A whole property, or a single room, loft or garage. Furniture and household items removed, with the property left tidy rather than merely empty.

Estate and probate clearance

These need patience more than speed. Nothing is disposed of without agreement, and anything that looks like it matters is set aside rather than assumed to be rubbish.

End of tenancy

A property returned empty to a deadline, for landlords and outgoing tenants.

Office and commercial clearance

Old furniture, redundant IT and fit-out material, usually after a business move rather than instead of one.

Where things actually go

Reusable items go to reuse where we can arrange it, the rest is sorted for recycling, and what is left goes to licensed disposal. We can tell you where things went.

What customers say

From customers we have moved

  • George and his team did a fabulous job today in moving a sofa and chair from one location to another and they were total life savers in the end. What seemed like a straightforward move turned into a nightmare when the chair wouldnt fit through the front or back door. George worked tirelessley to find a solution even to the extent of taking the back door off (and one inside door too) getting the chair to where it was meant to go and the putting both doors back into place. I so appreciate the effort that they put in, their dedication and not to mention their reasonable price for what turned out to be a mad job. I highly recommend George and his team. Thank you :)

  • I can't recommend Leda and her team enough to anyone who is looking to move! The team removed my items quickly and efficiently, it was then stored and delivered the other end of the country when I need it to be. The quote was very reasonable (and better than big brand companies)nd the communication throughout has been exceptional. My items have all been delivered safely.

Questions

Asked most often about Blantyre moves

Do you do clearance as well as removals in Blantyre?

Yes — both, and often on the same job. Clearing what you are not taking on the same day as the move saves a second visit and usually a second charge.

Can you clear a property I cannot get to?

Yes, with keys and access arranged in advance. Common for estates and for landlords who are not local.

What will you not take away?

Hazardous waste — asbestos, chemicals, gas bottles, clinical waste. Those need a licensed specialist and we will say so rather than take them. We are also not a valuation service; if you think something is worth money, have it looked at before the clearance.

Do you cover Hamilton and Bothwell too?

Yes, along with Uddingston, Cambuslang and the wider South Lanarkshire area.
