Removals in Bearsden and Milngavie

The big-house end of our work — where the job is measured in van-loads, not rooms, and half the moves are downsizes.

Bearsden and Milngavie sit together at Glasgow’s north-west shoulder and move as one patch: mature avenues, large semis and detached villas, and households that have often been in place for decades. The moves here are bigger than the bedroom count suggests — a four-bed villa with a garage, a loft and forty years of family life is routinely a two-van day — and a large share of them are downsizes, which are their own kind of job.

We cover both towns and everything between — Westerton, Killermont, Mosshead, Baljaffray, Keystone and up through Milngavie to Mugdock’s edge.

What is different here

The things that actually change how long a move takes, and therefore what it costs.

Volume is the story here

These are among the largest household moves we do. Deep lofts, garages, garden stores and full dining rooms mean the survey matters more than anywhere: the difference between one van and two is discovered before the day, not during it.

Driveways that need a look

Off-street parking is normal, but so are steep drives, tight gateposts and mature trees over the entrance. Whether the van comes up the drive or works from the road changes the carry, and a two-minute look at the entrance on a video survey settles it.

Pianos, antiques and the things that matter

More pianos, longcase clocks and inherited furniture come out of these two towns than the rest of our patch combined. They travel wrapped, padded and planned — and anything needing specialist handling is said out loud at quote stage rather than met on the stairs.

The West End pipeline

A classic route: a tenement flat in Hyndland or Kelvinside at one end, a Bearsden semi at the other. The close is the hard end and the quote reflects it — the driveway end of the day is usually the easy half.

Milngavie is not just the Way

Beyond the West Highland Way signpost, Milngavie’s housing runs from village-centre cottages to the newer estates at Barloch and Craigton. The village centre is pedestrianised, which occasionally puts the van a street away from the door — known in advance, planned around.

Downsizing

Downsizing from a family house, done properly

Half the moves we do in Bearsden and Milngavie are people leaving a large house for a smaller one. It is never just a smaller move — it is three moves wearing one coat.

Not everything goes to one place

Some to the new home, some to family, some to auction or charity, some to the tip. We split the load accordingly — multiple drops in a day are normal for a downsize.

Storage buys deciding time

When the new place cannot take everything and the decisions are not ready, storage holds the overflow — collected, stored and redelivered by the same crew when you know.

Paced for the people moving

Downsizes are often later-life moves, and the pace and patience of the crew matter as much as the lifting. We staff them accordingly.

What customers say

From customers we have moved

  • I used TransScot in both January and Feb this year. Both times, the service and respect for both me and my precious possessions were incredible. The efficiency and professional standards of a huge company, with the thoughtfulness and consideration of a small business - I would highly recommend them to everyone. I was in quite a vulnerable position, on my own, and timing was imperative - the reassurance and respect I was shown (and kindness to my 87-year-old mum) was amazing. They just make you have faith in humanity again.

  • A truly exceptional end to end service 😁. George and his team were excellent throughout the removal and delivery 🚚 of my good and chattels, nothing was too much trouble. I also had major delays (over 6 months) in completing my new house purchase. George with absolutely no complaints continued to store all property securely and safely. A truly excellent end to end service 😁

  • I can't recommend Leda and her team enough to anyone who is looking to move! The team removed my items quickly and efficiently, it was then stored and delivered the other end of the country when I need it to be. The quote was very reasonable (and better than big brand companies)nd the communication throughout has been exceptional. My items have all been delivered safely.

Questions

Asked most often about Bearsden & Milngavie moves

Do you cover both Bearsden and Milngavie?

Yes, as one patch — plus Westerton, Baljaffray, Torrance and the villages around. We are based in Motherwell and work across the Glasgow conurbation daily.

Can you move a piano?

Yes — uprights are routine and grands are planned specially. Tell us at quote stage, because a piano changes the crew and the kit, and it is never priced as an afterthought.

How long does a four or five bedroom move take?

Often a packed day, sometimes a day and a half with the packing done the afternoon before. A big Bearsden house is a two-van job more often than not, and the survey tells us which.

Can you help with a downsize where things go to different places?

Yes — it is half our work in these towns. New home, family, auction house, charity: the load is packed and split by destination, and storage covers anything not yet decided.
