Removals in Motherwell

The one town where we are not travelling to the job — we are already here.

TransScot is based in Motherwell. That is not a marketing line about coverage: the vans start here, the storage is here, and a Motherwell move usually means the crew is at the door earlier and off the clock sooner than the same job anywhere else we cover.

We move houses, flats and offices across Motherwell and North Lanarkshire — Craigneuk, Forgewood, Muirhouse, Ladywell, Flemington and the town centre — as well as long-distance moves out of the town to the rest of the UK.

Moving in Motherwell

What is different here

The things that actually change how long a move takes, and therefore what it costs.

Short moves, and the trap in them

A lot of Motherwell moves are within the town or to the next one. Short does not automatically mean quick — the loading and unloading is the same work whether the drive is ten minutes or two hours, and a quote that prices distance rather than volume tends to be the one that changes on the day.

Mixed housing, close together

Victorian and Edwardian terraces near the centre, inter-war and post-war estates around them, tenement flats, and newer builds on the edges. The access questions differ street by street, which is why the price follows a survey.

Parking is usually the easy part

Most Motherwell streets take a Luton without a permit, which is not true in Glasgow. The exceptions are the older terraces near the centre and the flats around Ladywell, where the nearest legal stop can be a carry away from the door.

Storage in the town

Our containers are here, so a Motherwell move that needs storage in the middle does not add a long run at either end. That matters most when a sale and a purchase do not complete on the same day.

Local

What being based here actually changes

Most removal firms listing Motherwell are driving in from Glasgow or further. A few practical things follow from not doing that.

Earlier starts

No travelling time before the first box. On a same-town move that is often the difference between finishing in a day and not.

Surveys at short notice

A survey in Motherwell is a short trip rather than a half-day, so it is easier to fit in at a time that suits you — including evenings.

Coming back is cheap

If something is left, or a second trip is needed, it is a short run rather than a new job. That is not a promise of free returns, but it does make them straightforward to arrange.

Storage between completion dates

Containerised storage in the town, with your load going in once and coming out once rather than being handled at both ends of a long trip.

Long distance, from here

Moves out of Motherwell to England and the rest of the UK are planned as one job with one crew, loading here and unloading there.

What customers say

From customers we have moved

  • I used TransScot in both January and Feb this year. Both times, the service and respect for both me and my precious possessions were incredible. The efficiency and professional standards of a huge company, with the thoughtfulness and consideration of a small business - I would highly recommend them to everyone. I was in quite a vulnerable position, on my own, and timing was imperative - the reassurance and respect I was shown (and kindness to my 87-year-old mum) was amazing. They just make you have faith in humanity again.

  • George and his team did a fabulous job today in moving a sofa and chair from one location to another and they were total life savers in the end. What seemed like a straightforward move turned into a nightmare when the chair wouldnt fit through the front or back door. George worked tirelessley to find a solution even to the extent of taking the back door off (and one inside door too) getting the chair to where it was meant to go and the putting both doors back into place. I so appreciate the effort that they put in, their dedication and not to mention their reasonable price for what turned out to be a mad job. I highly recommend George and his team. Thank you :)

  • I can't recommend Leda and her team enough to anyone who is looking to move! The team removed my items quickly and efficiently, it was then stored and delivered the other end of the country when I need it to be. The quote was very reasonable (and better than big brand companies)nd the communication throughout has been exceptional. My items have all been delivered safely.

Questions

Asked most often about Motherwell moves

Are you actually based in Motherwell?

Yes. The office, the vans and the storage containers are all in the town — we are not a Glasgow firm with a Motherwell landing page.

Do you do small moves within Motherwell?

Yes. A single room, a flat, or a few large items. If the job is small enough that a full crew is overkill, man and van is usually the better fit and we will say so.

Can you store our things between completion dates?

Yes — containerised storage here in the town, by the week or longer. Your load goes into its own container rather than being mixed with anyone else’s.

How much notice do you need?

As much as you can give, particularly for Fridays and month-ends, which book up first. Short notice is worth asking about — being local means we can sometimes fit a Motherwell job in when we could not fit one elsewhere.

Which areas around Motherwell do you cover?

All of North and South Lanarkshire — Wishaw, Bellshill, Hamilton, Bothwell, Uddingston, Coatbridge, Airdrie, Cumbernauld, Blantyre, East Kilbride — plus Glasgow and Central Scotland, and long-distance moves UK-wide.
